Distinction between company-wide and employee-specific policies

Company-Wide Policy: Applies to all employees unless overridden.

Employee-Specific Policy: Allows for customization based on individual agreements.
How to update carry-over policy for an individual Employee
Follow the steps below to update carry-over policy for an Employee:
Step 1. Head to the Team section and select the EmployeeStep 2. Navigate to the the Time-off tab
Here's what you can do on this page:

Enable or Disable Carry Over:
- Yes: Allows the employee to carry over unused PTO days.
- No: Disables the carry-over option for this employee.

Set Carry Over Options:
- Unlimited: The employee can carry over an unlimited number of unused PTO days.
- Limited: You can specify a maximum number of PTO days the employee is allowed to carry over annually.

Specify Carry Over Limit (if "Limited" is selected):
- Enter the maximum number of PTO days that the employee can carry over in a year.
- A note will show if this differs from the company-wide policy for transparency.

Define Carry Over Expiry:
- None: Carried-over days do not expire and can be used at any time in the future.
- Set expiry: Specify an expiration period (e.g., days or months) for carried-over PTO days.

Reset to Company Policy:
- This option allows you to reset the employee’s carry-over policy to match the default company-wide carry-over settings.

Save Changes:
- After making adjustments, click the Save changes button to apply the new policy for the employee.
If the employee’s working country-level policy does not permit carry-over, you will not be able to enable or edit the carry-over policy for that individual employee. This ensures compliance with country-specific labor regulations.
How to update company-wide carry-over policy
Step 1. Navigate to the Account preferences
Step 2. Click on the Time off policy
Here's what you can do on this page regarding Carry-over policy:
- Allow Carry Over - decide whether unused PTO days can be carried over to the next year.
- Yes: Enables the carry-over option, allowing employees to use unused PTO days in the next year.
- No: Disables carry-over, and unused PTO days will be forfeited at the end of the year.
- Carryover options - configure the rules for carrying over unused PTO days.
- Unlimited: Employees can carry over all unused PTO days without restriction.
- Limited: You can specify a maximum number of PTO days employees can carry over annually.
- If Limited, enter the maximum number of carry-over days (e.g., 5 days).
- Carryover expiry - determine whether carry-over days expire after a set period
- None: Carried-over days never expire and can be used anytime in the future.
- Set expiry: Specify a time frame for the expiry of carried-over days (e.g., days, months).
- Save Changes:
- After making adjustments, click the Request change button to apply the new policy for the employee.
