You can now manage your email notifications directly from your profile. This gives you more control over which alerts you receive, helping you stay focused on what’s relevant to your role.
There are two types of notifications:
Manageable notifications – You can choose to enable or disable these.
System notifications – Always enabled (you will receive these emails).
⚠️ What you see will depend on your role in the system. You’ll only see categories that are relevant to your responsibilities.
How to Update Your Notification Preferences
You must be logged in to the Client App.
Click on your profile in the top right corner.
Click on Account settings
Select the Notifications tab.
You’ll see a list of notification categories relevant to your role.
Use the toggle switch to turn Email notifications ON or OFF for each manageable category.
✅ “Switch on” means you’ll receive email alerts for that category.
❌ “Switch off” means you’ve opted out of email alerts for that category.
How Your Role Affects What You See
Notification categories are automatically filtered based on your role in the company. This means you won’t see or receive notifications that don’t apply to your responsibilities.
Here’s how it works:
- People Manager - Worker updates, hiring assistance, time off, contract changes
- Expense Approver, Expense Viewer - Expense approval requests
- PTO Approver, PTO Viewer - Time-off requests, timesheet approvals
- Team Admin - All updates
- Payroll Manager - N/A
- Finance Specialist - N/A
If your responsibilities change, your notification categories will automatically update.
💲Why All Notifications for Payroll Managers and Finance Specialists Are System Notifications
Currently, all notifications for users with the Payroll Manager and Finance Specialist roles are classified as System notifications, which means they are:
Always enabled
Delivered by email
Not visible in the Notification Preferences tab (since they cannot be turned off)
✅ Why this setup?
These roles are directly responsible for time-sensitive, financially critical tasks such as:
Payroll processing and approvals
Reviewing and tracking invoice and payment statuses
Ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees and partners
To prevent delays, missed approvals, or payment failures, we've made notifications for these roles mandatory. This ensures:
Business continuity - payroll must run on time
Compliance - finance actions often have legal and tax implications
Operational reliability - no risk of users unintentionally disabling critical alerts
As the platform evolves, we may revisit the option to make some notifications manageable for these roles. For now, this system-only setup is in place to protect core financial operations.
System notifications are always delivered if your role requires them, but you won’t see them in your notification settings.
