Overview
Australia's financial year runs from July 1 to June 30. June is therefore the final processing month of the current financial year. Payroll that falls outside this window is recorded in the following financial year, which has direct implications for Superannuation compliance, tax reporting, and year-end obligations.
To ensure all payments are correctly attributed to the right financial year, strict processing deadlines apply in June 2026.
Key deadlines
| Item | Deadline | What happens if missed |
|---|---|---|
| All June payroll requests submitted and processed | Within June 2026 | Moved to July cycle; falls in next financial year |
| New joiner details (complete) | June 18, 2026 | Employee onboarded in July payroll instead |
| Termination details (complete) | June 18, 2026 | Final pay processed in July cycle |
| June pay date | June 25, 2026 | N/A โ fixed date |
| Off-cycle payments for June | Within June only | No off-cycle June payments processed in July |
Important: Incomplete new joiner or termination records received after June 18 will not be held for June processing. They will move to the July cycle automatically, regardless of the employee's actual start or end date.
