Summary: Effective 1 August 2026, Bulgaria increased the maximum insurable income used to calculate social security contributions, from EUR 2,111.64 to EUR 2,300. This is a statutory update published in State Gazette Issue 68 (28 July 2026).
Does this affect me?
Only if your monthly salary is above EUR 2,300. If your salary is at or below this amount, your contributions are unchanged and no action is needed.
What changes for affected employees:
The contribution rate itself has not changed โ only the income ceiling it's calculated against. For salaries above EUR 2,300, this means:
- Your social security deduction increases by approximately EUR 25.96 per month
- Your employer's contribution also increases (this doesn't come out of your pay, but is included for transparency)
| ย | Additional monthly amount |
|---|---|
| Your contribution (employee) | +EUR 25.96 |
| Employer contribution | +EUR 35.64 |
When will I see this?
This applies starting with the August 2026 payroll cycle, so it should be reflected in your next payslip.
What do I need to do?
Nothing โ this is applied automatically to your payroll. No forms or action are required on your end.
