Summary: Effective 1 October 2026, Thailand is introducing a new Employee Welfare Fund (EWF), which requires a mandatory contribution from both employees and employers.
Does this affect me?
Yes โ this applies to all employees on Thai payroll.
What changes for affected employees:
A new deduction will appear on your payslip for the Employee Welfare Fund. Your employer will contribute a matching amount (this doesn't come out of your pay, but is included here for transparency). The rate is scheduled to increase again in 2031.
| Period | Your contribution (employee) | Employer contribution |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Oct 2026 โ 30 Sep 2031 | 0.25% | 0.25% |
| From 1 Oct 2031 | 0.5% | 0.5% |
When will I see this?
This applies starting with the October 2026 payroll cycle, so it should be reflected in your October payslip.
What do I need to do?
Nothing โ this is applied automatically to your payroll. No forms or action are required on your end.
