RemoCheck is an optional background-screening service that clients can request when adding or managing a contractor. It can help clients verify relevant information about a contractor before or during an engagement.
RemoCheck is separate from the mandatory identity-verification process used to activate a contractor’s RemoFirst account.
Tour overview - RemoCheckAvailable checks
The checks available depend on the contractor’s country, the selected package, requirements, and the information available to the screening provider.
Available checks may include:
- Identity verification: Confirms identifying information using eligible government-issued documents.
- Criminal record check: Searches available criminal-record sources where legally permitted.
- Employment verification: Verifies previous employers, roles, and employment dates.
- Education verification: Confirms eligible qualifications, institutions, or certifications.
- Sanctions and watchlist screening: Screens available international sanctions and regulatory watchlists.
Note: Not every check is available in every country. Requirements, coverage, completion times, and pricing may vary.
Request a RemoCheck
You can request a RemoCheck during contractor onboarding by selecting the available background-check package and criteria.
You may also request a check for an active contractor during the engagement. Contact Contractor Success if the required option is not available through the contractor’s profile.
Before submitting the request, review:
- Contractor’s legal name.
- Country and location.
- Required checks.
- Applicable package and price.
- Business purpose for requesting the screening.
What happens next
- Request submitted: The RemoCheck request is created through the RemoFirst platform.
- Pricing and payment: The applicable price is confirmed, and an invoice is issued where required. Screening begins after the required payment and information have been received.
- Contractor consent: The contractor receives instructions to provide consent and submit the required information or documents.
- Screening: The verification provider processes the selected checks using the available sources.
- Additional requirements: The contractor or client may be asked to provide further information if a document, reference, or institution cannot be verified.
- Report available: Once the screening is complete, the final report is made available through the platform, and the client is notified.
Additional third-party fees
Some institutions or data providers may charge an additional fee to complete a verification, particularly for education checks.
If an additional fee is required, RemoFirst will contact you with the available details. The affected check may remain pending until you approve the cost and complete any required payment.
Understand RemoCheck statuses
- Requested: The request has been created, but the contractor has not completed all required actions.
- In progress: The required information has been submitted, and the screening is being processed.
- Review: Additional information, clarification, or action may be required. Review the available notes or contact Contractor Success for guidance.
- Completed: The selected checks have been finalized, and the available report can be reviewed through the platform.
- If a request remains in the same status for an extended period, check whether the contractor has received and completed the required instructions.
Review the report
When the screening is complete:
- Review the result in the RemoFirst platform.
- Consider the relevance of the findings to the contractor’s role.
- Avoid making decisions based on incomplete or unclear information.
- Seek appropriate legal advice before taking adverse action where required.
- Limit access to the report to authorized stakeholders with a legitimate business need.
Background-check results reflect the information available to the screening provider at the time of the check and may be subject to local limitations.
Compliance Information
Compliance is a core component of RemoCheck. We adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable local data privacy laws in every jurisdiction where we operate. All checks are conducted to be proportionate and relevant to the specific role. We recommend that clients consult local labor laws before making adverse decisions based on background check results.
