Two non-working Mondays in July
July has two consecutive public holidays, both on Mondays.
| Date | Holiday |
|---|---|
| Monday, July 13 | Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Chiquinquirá (new this year) |
| Monday, July 20 | Colombian Independence Day |
If you're asked to work on either day:Â you're entitled to holiday pay on top of your regular wage. And if you end up working on two or more Sundays or public holidays in July, you're also entitled to a compensatory rest day.
Changes to overtime rates
From July 2026, Colombia's standard working month reduces from 220 to 210 hours. This is a legal change that affects how overtime on Sundays and public holidays is calculated. The new rates are:
| Overtime type | Your rate |
|---|---|
| Daytime — Sundays / public holidays | 1.90× your regular rate |
| Extended daytime — Sundays / public holidays | 2.15× your regular rate |
| Nighttime — Sundays / public holidays | 2.65× your regular rate |
Overtime is capped at 2 hours per day and 12 hours per week.
What if I worked extra Sundays or holidays before July?
The new rates apply from July 2026 onward. Work before that date uses the previous rates. If you believe your overtime was miscalculated at any point, contact your HR team.
